12/9/2023 0 Comments Bmw x5 xline 2020For a short time I did what I could to get rid of the gray and chrome trim….blacked out the window trim, rear diffuser and front bumper pieces with vinyl. Loved the car but really wanted the m sport, mostly for aesthetics. Had an X line that I had already spent money on window tint and clear bra and extended warranty. I think going with eBay Chinese parts will ruin the look. Your could get some BMW M Performance kit later on just to personalize it etc. I think non BMW kit will look even worse than what you have now, unless you get the really expensive ones, which again might be cheaper for you to trade it in on an M Sport. If you could tell, then honestly you're making it up lol. Yeah, which is why I will likely go with a non-BMW kit.Īnd I don't know about the paint because I had some work on a truck I used to have and they matched it perfectly. On top of that you'll be stuck with a bunch of X line parts in your house/garage that absolutely no one wants. Its ALWAYS cheaper to get the car configured how you want it out the gate than to do it after the fact. Also, no body shop will match the factory paint so your bumpers and side sills will look a bit different to the trained eye. The money you lose on the trade in will be far less than the parts and labor to paint+install needed to make it M sport. (Also note that paint will have to be blended into surrounding panels to color match perfectly - this means portions of your hood, front quarter panels, front and rear doors, rear quarter panel, trunk lid - which basically only leaves your roof and mirror caps untouched)īrother, your best bet is to trade the car in and buy an M sport. wondering about the quality of work that went into the transformation. People who are looking for M-Sport will pick a car that came from the factory with it vs. It may have a lower resale value than if you'd left it stock. At resale, you're likely to get dinged for this because the car will have obvious substantial body work that doesn't match the configuration recorded against the VIN number. You'd have to figure what to tell your insurance company to get coverage for the changed parts. I'd guess this is easily going to cost you more than $10K upfront.Īdditional considerations so you dive in fully informed upfront: Here's what you need straight from the 2021 45e configurator images that I kept archived from my own order. Yes, I know it is more than just a body kit, but I am only interested in the bumpers and side skirts.
