In jail, Joséphine seems to sink into despair – has she run out of tricks at last? Edelman’s attempts to help are frustrated by her recalcitrance, and he sums up her problem well – “appearing frigid and mysterious can be alluring, but not to the police”. In a rather unlikely development, she’s allowed to confront Vern in his hospital bed, and it’s a bit hard for her to defend herself when she can’t even remember the night of her rape. Vern is now conscious and has indeed accused Joséphine of running him over, so the cops think they have her bang to rights. What with that, and his divorce hearing coming up, it’s not turning into a good day for him – but wouldn’t he be more likely to have it out with Gilou rather than just walk away? Incidentally, did we know that Tintin had four children? – that’s what we assume from the amount of his alimony payments. Gilou now has the upper hand over Camara, but can he parlay this in exchange for the incriminating video of him stealing the gold?īut Tintin realises that he has been left out of the loop, finds the CCTV footage of Gilou and Camara’s meeting, and impulsively decides to put in for a transfer. Personally, we don’t believe the Camaras would fall for the ol’ switcheroo that easily. We always thought that corrupt cops Jolers and Calvi might get away scot-free, and initially it looks like they might, as they pull a fast one on the Camaras, fencing their gold in exchange for drugs rather than cash, then setting them up for arrest. As this season comes to a finale as twisty as a baguette, the French flics have everything left to fight for – can they pin down the murderer of cop Mercier? Can put-upon Laure make it work with the ethically challenged Gilou? And can Josephine escape the consequences of her attack on Vern?
